NEARBY ATTRACTIONS

Chauga River
Ramsey Falls

Chau Ram County Park in Westminster, SC takes it's name from the two bodies of water that flows through the park - the Chauga River and Ramsey Creek. The 40-foot waterfall called Ramsey Creek Falls and sometimes Chau Ram Falls occurs when water from Ramsey Creek empties into the Chauga River. The falls cascade over large boulders and is a great place to swim.

The county's longest suspension bridge at 160 feet crosses the Chauga River and leads to hiking trails running along the banks. The park also includes four rental areas for large parties and is a favorite site for weddings.

We camped here overnite on our Southern Highroads Trail trip and enjoyed the falls and a short hike. We read this park was a first come first serve but that's not true and you will need to reserve a spot. We were fortunate the ranger was onsite and we were able to get a spot. This is an older park and the sites are very small and the roads are narrow. The county is trying to update the park and widen the roads.

DIRECTIONS FROM WESTMINSTER SC:
Drive west on US76
Keep right at the fork with US 123 and drive 2.5 miles
Turn left onto Chau Ram Park Road and continue to the park entrance
