Crooked River State Park is located on the southern tip of Georgia and perfect for enjoying the Intracoastal Waterway and salt marsh. The park is near the ruins of the McIntosh Sugarworks, built around 1825 and used as a starch factory during the Civil war.
There are 4 miles of hiking trails to walk through the woods and salt marsh. There is also a boat ramp for those who enjoy fishing and a Bait and Tackle shop nearby. We spent a few nights here in March 2020 and returned in February 2021. We enjoyed hiking, biking and going into the historic town of St Marys. Our site was very private and deep. We would like to return and visit the wild horses on Cumberland Island.
