Doll Mountain Campground is an Army Corps of Engineers (COE) facility on Carter's Lake. The campground is on a peninsula formed by a ridge protruding into Carter's Lake. The lake is 3,200 acres and located near Ellijay in north Georgia and contained by the Blue Ridge Mountains. It is the largest earthen dam east of the Mississippi. The Coosawattee River feeds the lake and provides great conditions for fishing and water sports.

There is a boat ramp and additional parking within the campground. The campsites sit high above the water and do not allow easy access to a launched boat.

The campsites are paved and most have lots of shade. The hills entering and inside the campground are steep. A few of the sites in the older section have large decks with nice views of the water. We camped here in May 2021 and enjoyed the area. We didn't take our bikes because of the hills. Dakota Blue loved walking down the hill in the woods to the water.

There are no hiking trails within the campground but there are lots of trails around the lake within 45 minutes.

DIRECTIONS FROM ATLANTA:

Take Hwy 411 north to Hwy 136 and turn Right
Follow Hwy 136 to Hwy 382 and turn Left
Look for signs to the campground access road directly across from the volunteer fire station.
