E. G. Simmons County Park was established in 1960 and located eighteen miles south of Tampa and three miles north of Ruskin on Tampa Bay. The park includes 200 acres of mangrove swamp and has been reserved for a bird and wildlife sanctuary.
There is a small beach along Tampa Bay and a fishing pier. Children can enjoy the park's two playgrounds. There are two sections for campers, West and East, and both have beautiful views of the water. We stayed here in November 2018 and January 2021 escaping the cold Georgia temps. Get on I-275 N from N Florida Ave Follow I-4 E and I-75 S to Big Bend Rd. Take exit 246 from I-75 S Take US-41 S/S Tamiami Trail and 19th Ave NW to the park. |
