NEARBY ATTRACTIONS

Driftwood Beach
St Simons Island
Cumberland Island

Jekyll Island Campground is located on the northern end of Jekyll Island State Park near Driftwood Beach and the fishing pier. The campground is on 18 wooded acres and offers plenty of shade to relax and enjoy all the island has to offer. Jekyll Island is a Georgia State Park but the campground is run by a private vendor.

Jekyll Island was established in 1947 as a State Park and is steeped in history. The island is off the coast of Georgia in Glynn County and is one of the Sea Islands and one of the Golden Isles of Georgia barrier islands.

Jekyll was once a private retreat and hunting club for families such as Rockefeller, Morgan, Vanderbilt, Pulitzer and Baker. The Historic District includes most of the buildings erected during the Jekyll Island Club era. Tram tours run several times daily and guides describe much of the history of this area.

The restaurants on Jekyll Island are very friendly and choices range from casual to elegant.  St Simons Island is close by with even more choices and delicious fresh seafood.

We camped here in December 2017 in our Travato Van for three nights and loved walking on the beach and riding our bikes all over the island. The sites are a little close but the WIFI and cable is great. We love Jekyll Island and will return to camp here again.
