NEARBY ATTRACTIONS

Orlando FL

Lake Louisa State Park covers 4,372 acres and is located south of Clermont Florida in the northeast corner of the Green Swamp and the southwestern shore of Lake Louisa. The park was purchased by the state of Florida in 1973 and became a state park in 1974 opening to the public in 1977.

The park's camp grounds consist of two loops between Dixie and Hammond Lake. There is no swimming in the lakes due to alligators. There are a number of hiking trails within the park and also equestrian trails.

The equestrian campground is primitive and offers five horse paddocks, fire rings, non-potable water and a self-composting toilet. There is plenty of pasture at the sites for horse grazing.

We camped here a few nights in December 2020 in our Coachmen Beyond van. We loved the biking and hiking here and it was so special to visit the horses. The staff offers horseback riding on the beautiful trails.
