Lake Russell Recreation Area is in the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest and is situated along the shores of the 100-acre Lake Russell. There are numerous hiking and biking trails including The Lady Slipper Trail, Lake Russell Foot Trail, Rhododendron Trail and Sourwood Trail.

There are two loops with a Fee Tube at Loop B for payment. There are no hook-ups but water is available in several places. Loop A is reserved through Reserve America and Loop B is first come first serve sites. We stayed on Loop A on site #33. There is also a grass covered beach and swimming area and a fishing dock.

We camped here in June 2018 and was our first stop on the Southern Highroads Trail beginning in Habersham County. We enjoyed the lake and relaxing. Cornelia is a nice little town to visit and to stop in at Bigg Daddy's for BBQ.
