Magnolia Park is an Orange County Park located in Apopka, Florida. In 1962 Clarence and Helen Kenneke and Robert and Beverly McGrew granted 56 acres of land that was to become known as Magnolia Park. Commissioner Clif Freeman played an active role in the acquisition of this land. Everyone thought it would be named Freeman Park but he suggested "Magnolia" in honor of his favorite aunt, Magnolia Hamby.
We camped here in January 2016 on site #6. The roads into the park and around the campground are very narrow and winding. We're at 35ft and had to take it very slow. There is just the one road into the campground that loops around and back out. Be careful leaving the dump station. It's difficult making the left turn but thankfully, management added a little extra concrete to help make the turn. We really enjoyed the trails around Lake Apopka and the wonderful wildlife. There are so many different birds to view. We were disappointed that we didn't see an alligator on the Apopka Loop Trail. More information on the trails here. The staff here were very friendly and helpful and even have free ice at the office. Shopping is close by in Apopka and several laundry mats are available. Cell service for Verizon and T-Mobile was great. We would camp here again. DIRECTIONS FROM ORLANDO:
441 North through Apopka. Turn left on Lakeview, then left on C.R. 437 which turns into S. Binion Road. Park entrance is three miles down on the left. |
