Van Hook Glade Campground is a secluded campground in the Nantahala National Forest. It is just 4 miles from the scenic and cultural attractions of Highlands, NC. There are hiking trails, scenic views, waterfalls and across the street from the Cullasaja River.

A short trail inside the campground leads to the Cliffside Lake Recreation Area. Here there are six hiking trails, trout fishing and swimming. Boating is not permitted.

We camped here in June 2018 on our Southern Highlands Trail trip and loved being in the woods. It was very quiet and secluded and we enjoyed walking to the recreation area and the river across the road. The camp host was very friendly and helpful. It's best to reserve a site but we took our chances and there was one walk-in available. There is one sharp curve in the campground that is not big rig friendly.
DIRECTIONS:
From Highlands, North Carolina, follow Highway 64 west approximately 4.5 miles. The campground entrance is on the right.

GPS: 35.07722, -83.24639
