I know FDR State Park is one of Georgia's best. I mean, with well over twenty miles of hiking trails, how can one go wrong. That is, unless you camped over the July 4, 2013 holiday weekend. It rained for five days. Try spending all that time in a 19 ft. travel trailer. I went a little stir crazy. The RV sites are in a hole so there was virtually no TV reception. We did find a Red Box at a nearby store, so we did watch a few movies. During one break in the rain we managed to get in a short hike on the Mountain Creek Trail. It had all the components for good hiking. The trails ranged from easy to strenuous. One day I'll have to find out about the zillions of orange mushroom clusters along the whole trail. Another break in the weather, we visited nearby Calloway Gardens. We were all set for a nice ten-mile bike ride and the bottom dropped out after about two hours! We did get to see the butterfly house before returning to our trailer. Although we probably won't go back, I would recommend this park to everybody, during nicer weather of course!
