Retired and Back at Old Federal Campground

The purpose of this trip is to prepare our RV for our upcoming winter trip. We haven't camped since April and it feels really good to be at the park.  We are finding we have an abundance of storage and cabinets in our Columbus 5th Wheel. We are in the process of learning how it will be living in our RV and all the ins and outs of appliances and electronic systems.

When we pulled our camper from storage I thought I turned our battery switch to the "ON" position as that's on our checklist. To our surprise our LCI electronic leveling system began beeping at 5 AM this morning. The keypad easily disengaged from the panel and I pulled the buss plug out from the circuit board and plugged it back in. The beeping stopped but the lights started flashing. As we could not go back to sleep we started researching the manual and at 8 AM I called LCI for advice and they were very helpful and ran me through a checklist. One item was to check the battery power. The battery showed only 4 volts. Even then, I was not convinced I had not turned the battery switch to the "ON" position. After checking the 25 amp fuses, Sherrian said, why don't you go and look one more time to see if the battery switch is in the "ON" position. Well, it was not on. What can I say! After turning the switch "ON" the shore power quickly recharged the battery. I rebooted the LCI panel and the display came on and I think the leveling system will work fine now. Check out the information page about batteries.

It feels really good to be camping again and I'm finding my online work is going very well.

Intex Seahawk 4 Inflatable Boat

Good bye canoe hello inflatable raft.  The main reason for this switch is weight and we no longer have a way to transport the canoe. The canoe at 100 lbs was hard to handle and bulky. The Inflatable boat weights 48 lbs and is much easier to handle alone and stores easily in the RV basement.

We found the Seahawk 4 at Academy Sports.  We would have preferred to go with the 3-man raft but Academy Sports had the Seahawk 4 on sale for $64.99 and we couldn't pass it up. We inflated the raft in our living room with hardly any spare room around it. It is approximately 12 feet long when inflated.  Using the pump that came with the raft was very easy and only took 30 minutes to fill all three air chambers.
